Currently, AI has had a unique affect on SEO. Since its early development in the 1950s, AI has drastically changed from a program to play checkers against to a tool used in a variety of fields. Now, AI is transforming the landscape of digital marketing; for better or worse.

AI has been playing a role in SEO for a long time. Google has been using Artificial Intelligence to help rank and place website pages for years. However, AI has grown more user-centric over the last couple of years. As a result, search engine AI has begun to understand natural language better, being able to distinguish complex and personal queries. Search engines also have begun to use AI to generate results through snippets and answer boxes. These recent developments have provided opportunities and challenges for SEO experts.

SEO Experts and How They Use AI

For years, SEO experts have been trying to keep up with search engines through strategic keywords and optimized content that will get the attention of AI algorithms. However, the recent growth of AI has allowed experts to start using AI in their own capacity. This, along with other benefits, allows SEO experts to boost their content and relevence in search engines. However, this dynamic has also caused problems. Due to AI lacking human input, the programs have to rely on existing content. This can cause content to inaccurate information and generate misinformation. In addition, lower-quality content can be made which will cause search engine algorithms to not pick up content.

This back-and-forth between search engines and SEO experts has made it clear that human oversight and input are required to properly use AI.
